Care and Maintenance of your new Snomaster unit

So you have just bought a new Snomaster Refrigeration unit? Find out all the tips, guides and tricks to caring & maintaining your new Snomaster unit.

Energy saving tips

  • Mount the appliance in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Keep the compressor and condenser in a well-ventilated area.
  • Cool the unit down on 220V, before placing in in the vehicle for 12/24V use
  • Do not set the thermostat colder than the required temperature.
  • Allow food to cool or freeze before storing it in the appliance.
  • Avoid leaving the lid or door open any longer than necessary.
  • Defrost periodically or when the evaporator is covered with thick ice.

PREVENT OVER-VOLTAGE DAMAGE

Over-voltage can cause damage to the electronics, so ensure that you:

  • Only connect the appliance to a generator AFTER the generator has been started up.
  • Disconnect the battery from the appliance BEFORE connecting the battery to a high-speed battery charger. The warranty will not apply where damage has been caused to the appliance through abuse or negligence.

Transport unit well-secured

  • Make sure that the unit is securely fastened in the vehicle, so that it does not move around and wither get damaged itself or cause damage to the vehicle or passengers. Tension tie-down straps can be attached to the handle.
  • Never leave loose cans rolling around, as these can damage the cooling tank
  • These units are not suitable for transporting corrosive or solvent-containing substances.

Clean with care

  • Keep the unit clean with a soft cloth moistened with lukewarm water, but ensure that no water drops into the seals.
  • Never use abrasive or solvent-based materials when cleaning the cooling tank.
  • Never use hard or sharp tools to remove ice from the evaporator or cooling tank.

Connection and usage

  • Connect the appliance as possible to the poles of the battery or to a plug connection with at least a 15A fuse.
  • The cable to the battery should be as short as and uninterrupted as possible. The hand book defines the relationship between cable thickness and distance from battery.
  • Keep the appliance as full as possible for the best cooling results.
  • Never obstruct the vents to the refrigerators compressor.
  • Don't use any electrical appliance inside the cooling compartment.

Storage Essentials

  • The appliance takes a small amount of idle current and must therefore be disconnected from the AC mains or DC battery.
  • Store the unit with the lid open to prevent the formation of mold.
  • Store the unit in a warm, dry place.
  • Check the plug connection regularly for corrosion.
